The New York Islanders Continue Commitment to Help Save Lives  - Islanders to Host Red Cross Blood Drive

Earlier this year, the American Red Cross proudly announced a three-year partnership with the New York Islanders Hockey Club. The Islanders have made a commitment to host four Red Cross blood drives each year over the next three years, potentially saving more than 4,000 lives of hospital patients in need.

The New York Islanders will host a blood drive on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. As a special thank you for helping their neighbors, all presenting donors will receive a voucher for two tickets to a future Islanders home game.*

“At its heart, the American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that is all about neighbor helping neighbor.” said Donna M. Morrissey, Director of Communications, Red Cross Northeast Division. “We are so appreciative that the Islanders have decided to partner with the Red Cross to help supply lifesaving blood to hospital patients in need.” “We’re looking forward to another great event with the American Red Cross,” Islanders VP of Corporate Partnership Dave Decina said. “Each blood drive we hold seems to bring out more and more donors, so hopefully that continues and we can help save many more lives together.”

The Red Cross blood drive will take place in the Lower Box Office of the Coliseum. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or by visiting redcrossblood.org. All presenting donors will also receive a voucher for a free entrée from Moe’s Southwest Grill, a Monro Muffler coupon good for two great offers and have the opportunity enter a grand prize drawing for an overnight package which includes (2) Islanders game tickets to a 2013 game and overnight stay at the Long Island Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.*
