ISLANDERS ANNOUNCE PRESEASON SCHEDULE
2012 Preseason Schedule Features Home Games Against the New Jersey Devils and the New York Rangers
UNIONDALE, NY (June 26, 2012) – The New York Islanders announced today the release of their 2012 preseason schedule. The Islanders will play seven exhibition games in seven cities across North America, including one game at Nassau Coliseum.
The Islanders will open their 2012 preseason on Thursday, Sept. 27, with a pair of split squad games against the Edmonton Oilers. One Islanders squad will host an Oilers team at Brandt Centre in Regina, SK, while another group will travel to Rexall Place in Edmonton, AB.
The third game of the preseason is set for Saturday, Sept. 29, when the Islanders travel to the Prudential Center to take on the defending Eastern Conference Champion, New Jersey Devils. The Islanders will then travel for another pair of split-squad games, this time against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, Sept. 30. One Islanders team will host a Senators squad at The Barrie Moulson Centre in Barrie, ON, while a second group will battle at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, ON.
The Islanders will play the first-ever NHL game in Brooklyn on Tuesday, Oct. 2, when they take on the New Jersey Devils at 7:30 p.m., at Barclays Center. The Islanders conclude their seven-game, preseason schedule on Thursday, Oct. 4 against their cross-town rivals, the New York Rangers, at Nassau Coliseum.
New York Islanders 2011 Training Camp is scheduled to begin on Friday, Sept. 21.
On Friday, Oct. 12, the Islanders will open the season in Pittsburgh against the Penguins at 7 p.m. The home opener is set for the following night at Nassau Coliseum at 7 p.m. against the Philadelphia Flyers.
